Nobody handed me the shot. So I built the room.
At 18, I was committed to Arizona State with an agent and a shot at the draft. I went undrafted, earned a pro contract offer from the Milwaukee Brewers — and then my heart stopped. Cardiac arrest, then a coma.
I came back to play at St. Louis Community College while running a marketing company with six employees and an office. It failed and nearly bankrupted me. Two more businesses failed after it.
Somewhere in that stretch I fought addiction. I got clean, and I’ve stayed clean.
I was broke, out of gas money and out of excuses when I taught one lesson. That lesson changed everything.
Then I built. Today I run a player-development company with 90+ athletes and six instructors, a software firm with seven growth partners, and the systems that let both run without me in the room.
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in standards, systems and outworking the version of you that wants to quit.
